When can an employer test? Pre employment before an employee starts working. Job offer can be conditional on background check and drug test. Post accident, need to be defined. How much property damage or what level of care individuals involved received. Reasonable suspicion supervisors receive training and can document and audiobolize signs and symptoms of drug use. Random/periodic Random testing is used by the DOT and requires an approved algorithm. Periodic is defined as periodically a drug tester shows up and everyone there is tested. Follow up once an individual has been identified as a drug user and finishes the recommendations of a Substance Abuse Professional then testing can be done under follow up. Can’t test for promotion. Can’t test “randomly” because they are on drugs. |
